Glen Phillips of Toad had a gorgeous cry of a voice, and I wanted so badly to sound like him (a recurring theme for me). He was a baby when they recorded that first track (I wanna say 17), but man he sounded like he meant this stuff. “Little ever changes, if anything at all, just reminds ourselves how small we are.”
I spent a lot of time in my late teens and much of my twenties by myself. Like, a lot. I don’t know if was born an introvert, but I learned to be a good one. In those days, some of my favorite music was like a companion. Songs about human connection resonated (still resonate) for me. This one meant a lot to me, and I think we could all use it right now.
